An Update on COVID – 19 Vaccine Development
The mankind across the globe was severely affected by the dreadful SARS-CoV-2. The mortality rate is alarming day-by-day. Numerous pharmaceutical companies either alone or in collaboration with other research organizations are hunting for development of a vaccine to combat the SARS-CoV-2.
The vaccine development aimed targeting DNA, RNA, Protein subunit of the virus. The research was focused on developing live, inactivated or genetically engineered vaccines. Though couple of countries claimed that they start using their indigenous vaccines, the data od which is still un-clear.
Here is the list of some vaccines which are currently in progress;
NIH-Moderna (USA) Investigational COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA -1273) is in Phase III trials
Collaborative vaccine being developed by Pfizer (USA) and BioNTech (Germany) named BNT162b2 COVID-19 Vaccine is in Phase III trials
A vaccine AZD1222, which AstraZeneca licensed from the University of Oxford in the U.K. is in Phase III trials
Johnson & Johnson planning to start soon Phase III trials of its vaccine with great number of 60,000
The vaccine developed by Novavax (USA), NVX-CoV2373 is in Phase III trials
China based Sinovac carrying its Phase III trials on CoronaVac in Brazil
